Seguro que recordáis todos esos rumores y profecías en torno al supuesto fin del mundo el día 21 de Diciembre de 2012... Por suerte el mundo no se acabó, pero debo admitir que esta impresionante nube en forma de volcán invertido me causó cierta inquietud... Ibamos en el coche de camino a Granada y daba la sensación de que íbamos directos hacia ella...

I'm sure you remember all those rumors and prophecies about the supposed end of the world on December 21, 2012... Luckily the world did not end, but I must admit that this impressive inverted volcano shaped cloud made me a bit concerned... We were in the car on the way to Granada and it felt like we were going straight towards it...

Ya sabéis cuánto me gustan los colores del atardecer, pero los de invierno son especialmente bonitos, tienen una luz especial... Aquí os dejo unas imágenes del atardecer que disfrutamos hace un par de días.

Os presento las nuevas incorporaciones a mi pequeño huerto: frambuesas y arándanos! No tengo muy claro que vayan a funcionar muy bien en este clima tan cálido, pero por intentarlo que no quede!
Por otra parte, los guisantes siguen creciendo rápido y ya se agarran con sus zarcillos a los tutores que les he puesto. Y los tomates cherry siguen resistiéndose al otoño, aunque los que veis en la fotos son de los últimos porque ya no hay ninguna flor....

Meet the new additions to my little orchard: raspberries and blueberries! I'm not sure if they will do fine with such a warm climate here, but at least I want to try!

On the other hand, the peas are growing fast and started holding onto the sticks that I planted for them. And cherry tomatoes still resist the autumn, though this ones you see at the photo are some of the last ones, as there aren't anymore flowers...

Estas fotos las tomé a finales de Septiembre, pero entre unas cosas y otras no he podido publicarlas hasta ahora...

Como podéis ver la tomatera está aprovechando el calor y las horas de sol y sigue dando tomates, aunque ya tardan más en madurar. 

Las acelgas siguen siendo la estrella de mi huerto, han aguantado bien los calores del verano y con tantas horas de sol han crecido bastante rápido y hemos ido recolectando las hojas más grandes.

Y la novedad para la temporada de otoño-invierno son los guisantes, los compré en plantel y han agarrado muy bien, ayer mismo compré unos tutores para que puedan agarrarse con esos zarcillos que podéis apreciar en la foto.

I took these pictures in late September, but I haven't found the time to publish them until now... 

As you can see the tomato is using the heat and sunlight hours and continues giving tomatoes, although they take longer to ripe. 

The chards are still the star of my garden, they have endured the summer heat well and with so many hours of sunshine have grown quite fast so we have been collecting the larger leaves.

And the novelty for the autumn-winter season are peas, which I planted from campus and have grasped very well, yesterday I bought some tutors so they can hang with these earrings that you can see in the photo.

Septiembre es uno de mis meses preferidos, y el precioso atardecer de hoy me ha dado más motivos para adorar este mes.

September is one of my favorite months, and today's amazing sunset has given me even more motives to love this month.

Zanahorias / Carrots 

Como podéis ver en la foto, los primeros tomates empiezan a madurar, qué ilusión me ha hecho ver a este pequeño tomate cambiar del color verde al anaranjado!


En la segunda foto os presento una de mis zanahorias, es una monada pero no os dejéis engañar, no es ni tan tierna ni tan dulce como podría parecer. Sembré esta variedad (redonda de París) porque por su forma y tamaño es adecuada para cultivar en macetas o en suelos con poca profundidad, pero la verdad es que no la recomiendo, yo esperaba conseguir unas zanahorias pequeñas, tiernas y de sabor dulce, pero lo que he conseguido son unas zanahorias super pequeñas (más pequeñas que los rabanitos), fibrosas y de sabor no muy agradable. Otra desventaja es lo mucho que han tardado en llegar a alcanzar este minúsculo tamaño, las sembré el 22 de Abril, hace casi 3 meses! 
No sé si alguien más ha cultivado esta variedad, cuál ha sido vuestra experiencia?

As you can see in the picture, the first tomatoes begin to ripen, how nice it has been to see this little tomato turn from green to orange!

In the second picture I present one of my carrots, it's cute but do not be fooled, it is neither as sweet nor as sweet as it looks. I planted this variety (round Paris) because its shape and size is suitable for growing in pots or shallow soils, but I wouldn't recommend it; as I expected to get some baby carrots, tender and sweet, but I've got some super small carrots (smaller than the radishes), fibrous and not very pleasant taste. Another drawback is how long they have taken to grow to this tiny size, I planted them on April 22, nearly three months!

I do not know if anyone else has grown this variety, which has been your experience?

Hoy tengo pocas ganas de escribir, así que sólo un par de comentarios:

- Los rábanos ya están engordando, creo que pronto estarán en una ensalada!

- El perejil ha echado flores, no sé si debería cortarlas o bien dejarlas madurar para conseguir semillas... Alguna sugerencia?

Today I don't feel like writing so only two comments:

- The radishes are growing fast, so I think they'll be part of a salad quite soon!

- The parsley has bloomed, I don't know if I should cut the flowers or let them follow their way to get seeds... Any suggestions?
